The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, granted an interview to journalist Breno Altman on the program “20 minutos – Opera Mundi,” where he addressed several critical issues regarding the political situation in the country and the influence of the United States on Venezuelan internal affairs.

During the conversation, President Maduro stated that the recent social media operation surrounding Edmundo González’s candidacy was orchestrated by the United States, using what he described as “diplomatic deception.”

He emphasized that all agreements between the Bolivarian government and the extreme right have been violated by this extremist group.

President Maduro also mentioned that several U.S. government officials designed the project of former MP Juan Guaidó, who, according to him, was backed by then-President Donald Trump with the aim of destabilizing Venezuela. He characterized this action as an “international coup d’état.”

Additionally, the Venezuelan president revealed that at the end of 2024, more than 200 mercenaries were arrested for attempting to incite violence in the country.

In this context, he reiterated that Joe Biden’s administration had tried to create a “Guaidó 2.0,” a strategy that, according to Maduro, failed outright.

Despite attacks and calls for invasion by former foreign leaders, President Maduro stressed that January 10 was a “blessed day,” marking the beginning of a new presidential term oriented toward prosperity for Venezuela.

Finally, he emphasized the importance of respecting self-determination and sovereignty as fundamental principles to confront geopolitical threats on the continent and safeguard the future of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).
